Full Job Description SUMMARY:

The Part Time Community Service Learning Caseworker functions as a member of the community service learning team and works integrally with the youth, family, and team to implement structured programing for the youth to complete assigned community service hours and/or classroom hours. The Caseworker provides services to youth identified as needing restorative and supportive services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support and assistance in the areas of behavior management, crisis intervention/prevention, and provision of additional services to youth and their families. Maintains client files and records in accordance with program and funding source requirements in collaboration with full-time staff. Maintains contact with referral source, family, and all other relevant parties if on occasion. Attends all mandatory scheduled meetings and trainings as pertains to position. Maintains professional staff/client relationships and appropriate role and relationship boundaries. Maintains client confidentiality. Maintains knowledge of community resources pertinent to youth's successful completion of community service hours. Continues personal and professional growth. Provides transportation to and from program when requested. Check of the motor vehicle record must meet agency guidelines. Participates as an active member of the program team and perform other duties as assigned. Communicates with program supervisor any issues that arise in a timely manner. Arrives on time and communicates absences directly to program supervisor in a timely manner.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Director, Contract Services.

HOURS, WORK LOCATION AND REMUNERATION

This is a part time position, working under 30 hours per week, that involves working some of the following shifts: From 3:45 p.m.

• 7:00 p.m. Monday
• Friday and from 8:45 a.m.
• 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Summer hours 12:45 p.m
• 4:00 p.

m. Monday-Friday. Part time Community Services Learning Caseworkers are expected to work a minimum of 4 hours per month. Position involves working in the community. Remuneration will be commensurate with training, experience, qualifications, and established agency compensation practices.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL :

At the time of employment and every three (3) years thereafter, the person shall receive a physician's certification of adequate health to perform duties. Must have satisfactory background checks and meet federal fingerprinting requirements through the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Abuse Registries (which includes child abuse, dependent adult abuse and sexual offender registries). At the time of employment and throughout employment with the agency, the person shall have a valid Driver's license and show proof of valid liability insurance on own vehicle.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

: Must pass and/or complete: New Staff Orientation, Mandatory Reporters Training, Crisis Prevention Institute training, Van Driving and any additional training required by the supervisor during the first six months of employment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

Requires High School Degree or GED plus 2 years applicable experience working with children and families. BA/BS degree in human service-related field with a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in human services or a BA/BS degree in another field with 2 years of experience in human services preferred. Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing. Must have knowledge of and the ability to implement current theoretical approaches to counseling. Must demonstrate competence in understanding of population served, providing individual and family services, ability to effectively engage client/family/provider in services, and commitment to providing safe, high-quality care to the children, youth and families served.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and general correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from superiors, other employees, clients, and persons outside of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions, verbal and behavioral interaction, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Walking, standing, and sitting required. Using hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
