Full-time; occasional evenings or weekends Position Summary The Family Resource Center (FRC) Coordinator, is part of a team that leads day-to-day operation of CommUnity's Family Resource Center, serving as a welcoming point of entry for families seeking support, information, and connection to services. This role builds on CommUnity's vision to build a community where everyone has what they need to live with stability, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive. The Family Resource Center Coordinator supports a team of Family Resource Center Advocates to offer proactive, preventive support — helping individuals, parents, and caregivers access basic needs assistance, parenting resources, and community services before a situation becomes a crisis. The FRC Coordinator works closely with the CommUnity's Market Team, as well as external partners across Johnson County, to build a coordinated system of support for families. 40% Program Coordination & Advocate Supervision 40% Case Management & Advocacy 10% Community Outreach 5% Data Collection & Reporting 5% Volunteer Supervision & Support Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Coordination Develop and maintain client-center, trauma informed workflows in coordination with the Family Resource Center Director Plan and coordinate classes, clinics, support groups, workshops, and family engagement events held at or through the Family Resource Center. Coordinate scheduling of guest facilitators, volunteers, and community presenters Maintain a safe, organized, and culturally welcoming environment for households of diverse backgrounds. Carry out the Family Resource Center's strategic plan under the direction of the Family Resource Center Director and in alignment with the National Family Support Network's Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support Supervision — Family Resource Center Advocates Train and supervise a team of Family Support Advocates delivering direct family engagement, intake, and referral services at the Family Resource Center. Provide regular individual and team supervision, including case consultation, coaching, and performance feedback. Set clear expectations, workload distribution, and coverage plans to ensure consistent, high-quality service to families. Conduct onboarding and ongoing professional development for Family Support Advocates, including training on trauma-informed practice, confidentiality, and mandated reporting. Conduct annual performance evaluations and support Advocates' professional growth. Foster a collaborative, supportive team culture aligned with CommUnity's mission and values. Case Management & Advocacy Serve as a primary point of contact for families visiting or contacting the Family Resource Center. Conduct welcoming, strengths-based intake conversations to identify family needs and goals. Connect families to CommUnity's internal services (Food Bank, Healing Prairie Farm, Guidelink, Mobile Crisis Response) and to external community resources (shelter, healthcare, childcare, employment, benefits navigation). Follow up with families to confirm services were accessed and needs were addressed, adjusting support plans as needed. Provide mental health first aid then conduct a warm hand-off to clinical or crisis-intervention services. Community Outreach & Family Engagement Build and maintain relationships with Johnson County schools, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and organizations within the Family Resource Center Network. Represent CommUnity at community coalition meetings, resource fairs, and outreach events as requested by the Family Resource Center Director. Identify service gaps affecting families and assist the Family Resource Center Director in the development of new partnerships or referral pathways to address them. Data Collection & Reporting Maintain accurate, confidential family records in CommUnity's client database in accordance with agency policy and applicable confidentiality laws. Track and report program metrics for funders, grant reporting, and agency leadership. Assist with grant applications and compliance reporting related to family support and prevention funding. Assist the Family Resource Center Director in maintaining the Center budget for supplies, materials, and activities within approved limits. Comply with all agency policies, mandated reporting requirements, and confidentiality standards. Volunteer Supervision & Support Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers assisting with programming in close collaboration with the Family Resource Center Volunteer Coordinator Provide volunteers with the information and tools needed to support families consistently with CommUnity's mission and values. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Studies, Psychology, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum two years of experience working with families, children, or in community/social services. Strong working knowledge of Johnson County and Iowa community resources and social service systems. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, especially those experiencing crisis or hardship. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and mandated reporting laws. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn client database/case management systems. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally for outreach and meetings. Satisfactory completion of background check, in accordance with CommUnity policy. Preferred Bilingual (Arabic/English, Spanish/English, or other languages relevant to the Johnson County community). Experience with grant reporting and nonprofit systems Training in trauma-informed care, mandated reporting, or evidence-based family support practices. Familiarity with crisis intervention principles and/or prior experience in a crisis services or nonprofit setting. Work Environment & Physical Demands Primarily an indoor setting with regular direct interaction with families, children, volunteers, and community partners. Some local travel required for community meetings, outreach events, and home or site visits. Occasional evening or weekend hours required for family events, workshops, and community engagement activities.
Pay Range Salaried:
$50,000-$55,000 annually
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per week
