Mediapolis School District Salary:
$50,000+ (commensurate with experience and educational credits).
Contract Length:
Full-time, Contract (189 -199 Days) Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and licensed School Social Worker (SSW) to join our educational services team. In this role, you will serve as the vital link between home, school, and community. You will champion student success by providing direct clinical, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions. This position supports both general education initiatives and Special Education frameworks to ensure every student has an equitable opportunity to learn.
Core Responsibilities Direct Intervention:
Provide evidence-based individual and group counseling for students experiencing trauma, mental health crises, or behavioral challenges. Support and Collaborate with
Special Education:
Consult with special education teachers and teams regarding the creation, implementation, and amending of behavior goals.
Family & Community Liaison:
Conduct home visits to evaluate environmental factors and connect families with essential community resources and medical providers.
Systemic Support:
Partner with teachers to develop classroom management strategies and address school-wide challenges such as chronic absenteeism.
Compliance:
Maintain precise records, complete mandatory child abuse tracking, and manage required Medicaid billing paperwork.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Preferred - Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
Educational Endorsement:
Must hold or be eligible for the B-21 School Social Worker Endorsement from the
Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Clearances:
Pass a comprehensive criminal background check and Iowa child/adult abuse registry screening.
Skills:
Empathy, active listening, and critical thinking to assess student needs, strong knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and data-based decision-making.

Academic calendar layout (approx. 7.75 hours/day; summers and school holidays off).
