2 Meridian, ID Job Details Part-time From $18 an hour 22 hours ago Qualifications Parent collaboration Parent communication Full Job Description Part-Time 1:1 School Support Aide $18-25/hour | Meridian, ID | Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-12:00 PM | Approximately 17.5 hours/week We are looking for a kind, patient, reliable, and energetic person to provide 1:1 support to our 6-year-old son during his school day at a private elementary school in Meridian. His school has approved an outside aide to provide additional support during the school day. We are looking for someone who can become a consistent, positive adult in his life and help him have successful mornings at school. This is a great opportunity for a college student studying special education, elementary education, psychology, child development, social work, behavioral science, or a related field. About the position Our son is bright, funny, energetic, and loves learning. Academically, he does very well and especially enjoys reading. He does, however, have difficulty with emotional regulation, transitions, attention, frustration tolerance, and managing big emotions in the school environment. When he becomes overwhelmed, he can have significant emotional reactions and needs a calm, patient adult who can help him recognize when he is becoming dysregulated and use strategies to get himself back on track. The goal is not simply to "manage" his behavior. We want someone who can help him build skills, feel successful at school, and gradually become more independent.
Responsibilities The aide will:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support during the school morning
- Help with transitions between activities
- Provide calm redirection and positive reinforcement
- Help him use coping and regulation strategies
- Support attention and participation in classroom activities
- Recognize early signs of frustration or dysregulation
- Help him follow classroom routines and expectations
- Encourage independence rather than doing things for him
- Work cooperatively with his teachers and school staff
- Communicate with parents regarding how the morning went
- Follow strategies and recommendations provided by his parents, school, and therapy team Experience We are open to candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Special education students
- Elementary education students
- Psychology students
- Early childhood education students
- Social work students
- Behavioral science students
- Occupational therapy or speech-language students
- RBTs or behavior technicians
- Special education paraprofessionals
- Teachers or teacher's aides
- Nannies or childcare providers
- Tutors or other individuals with experience working with children Experience supporting children with ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioral challenges, or special education needs is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
The most important qualities are patience, reliability, emotional maturity, consistency, and a genuine desire to help children. Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-12:00 PM Approximately 17.5 hours per week during the school year. This position follows the school calendar, so there will be no regular hours on weekends, school holidays, or days when school is not in session. We are looking for someone who can make a consistent commitment for the school year. Pay $18
