Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join the Alton School District as a Social Worker Intern. This part-time position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive educational environment while working alongside experienced social workers. The intern will assist in providing social services to students and families, promoting emotional well-being, and fostering a positive school climate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Social Work or a related field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families. Basic understanding of social work principles, ethics, and practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed. Previous experience in a school or community service setting is a plus, but not required. Must pass a background check prior to employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in assessing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students. Support the development and implementation of individualized intervention plans. Conduct outreach to families and community resources to provide support services. Participate in meetings with school staff, parents, and community agencies to address student needs. Help organize and facilitate workshops and support groups for students and families. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and services provided. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to create a safe and inclusive school environment. Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance social work skills and knowledge.
