Job Description
Youth Services Coordinator The Maryville Community Library is seeking a dynamic and creative Youth Services Coordinator. Serving the Library's youngest patrons and their caregivers, plan and present varied programs, provide reference and reader's advisory services, and assist with the selection of the collection materials. They will bring a dedicated work ethic and a desire to join a great team of coworkers looking to grow the Maryville Community Library.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties:
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate assigned services, projects, and programs, including a yearly Summer Reading Challenge. Assist the Director with the selection and maintenance of the circulating children's collections in accordance with the Library's Collection Development Policy. Initiate, plan, and present varied programs for children from birth through high school and their caregivers in support of department goals and community needs. Serve customers at in-person service points through expert-level reference, reader's advisory, and basic technology assistance to children from birth through high school and their caregivers. Plan, promote, and provide outreach services for area schools, civic, and community organizations. Actively promote library services, materials, and programs to customers. Demonstrate good stewardship of physical spaces by preparing and merchandising department displays, continually maintaining interactive areas. Attend and participate in library-related meetings, trainings, seminars, and conferences as assigned. Assist with and perform circulation duties and other responsibilities and duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, but not required. At least 5 years of experience working with children/youth, including children's programming. Previous Library experience required. Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking. Knowledge of books/literature for children birth-high-school. Able to use computers, software, and other technologies used at a public library. Ability to work days, nights, and weekends. Valid Driver's License. Background check required. Schedule is 40 hours a week and includes evening and weekend shifts.Starting pay:
