Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position supporting high school and transition-aged students with special needs as a School Social Worker. This full-time opportunity, located near Vernon Hills, IL, offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in students' lives while utilizing your expertise in a collaborative educational environment. The role is anticipated to begin as soon as possible and will continue for the foreseeable future, helping to cover while the current social worker undergoes surgery.
Key Qualifications:
Active Professional Educator License (PEL) required Previous experience as a school social worker, especially with high school or transition-aged students Expertise supporting students with special needs Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families Experience conducting social-emotional assessments and providing direct services
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to high school and transition-aged students navigating academic, emotional, and behavioral challenges Create and implement interventions to support student success, particularly for those with special needs Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor effective IEPs and behavioral plans Serve as a resource for families, connecting them with community services as needed Maintain detailed and confidential records in compliance with school and district policies Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture and act as a trusted advocate for students This is a great opportunity to work 37.5 hours per week in a setting dedicated to helping every student thrive.
