Employment as VCS Social Worker (additional duties for an existing VCS Social Worker position) Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program Valid Indiana Social Work license (LSW or LCSW) Experience working in a school or youth-serving environment Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Position Summary Valparaiso High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Social Worker to support the VHS social work programming. This leadership role includes program coordination, staff collaboration, and oversight of school-based social work services. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Program Oversight Serve as the lead coordinator for all school social work services and initiatives at
VHS/VALE
Supervise and mentor school social work staff, interns, and related service providers Collaborate with administration to develop and implement school-wide programming related to prosocial skills and mental well-being .
Examples may include:
Anxiety and stress management groups (teaching coping skills, grounding techniques) Grief and loss groups Social skills or peer relationship groups Coordination with administration to review and enhance a tiered response to student needs (MTSS).
Examples as follows:
Tier 1: School-wide prevention (convocations, awareness campaigns, classroom lessons) Tier 2: Targeted small groups (attendance improvement, emotional regulation) Tier 3: Intensive individualized support (crisis intervention, wraparound services) Analyze data to assess student needs and program effectiveness Facilitate parent workshops and outreach initiatives in collaboration with social work team, counselors, and administrators such as: Parent education nights (mental wellbeing, digital safety, substance abuse prevention, adolescent development, workplace skills and employment processes, suicide prevention intervention, etc.) Community partnership programs with local agencies
