Job Description

Family Educator (Ages 0-3)
  • Bourbon County Full-Time | Non-Exempt | In Person Make a Lasting Impact in Your Community Are you passionate about supporting families and helping infants and toddlers grow and thrive?
Join SEK-CAP, Inc. as a Family Educator (0-3) and provide weekly home-based services that strengthen parent-child relationships, promote early development, and help families set and reach meaningful goals. You'll partner with parents as their child's first and most important teacher, using research‑based curriculum and Head Start Performance Standards to guide your work. What You'll Do Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits focused on child development, family goals, and parent-child interaction. Build trusting relationships with families and complete ongoing family assessments. Identify needs, make referrals, and coordinate services with community partners. Maintain developmental assessments using tools such as Denver II, ECI, CreativeCurriculum.net, and HOME Inventory. Partner with parents to develop individualized lesson plans and support school readiness. Track and document services in CAPTAIN, CreativeCurriculum.net, ECI, and Kansas EHS Outcomes. Plan group socialization experiences and guide monthly nutrition activities. Provide prenatal education, support, and referrals for expectant mothers. Support families in accessing health, dental, nutrition, and mental health services. Transport families when needed and work flexible hours to meet family needs. Use Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies to support emotional regulation and prevent challenging behavior. Maintain confidentiality and uphold all Head Start and agency policies. What We're Looking ForKnowledge & Experience Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work respectfully with diverse families. Basic computer competency and comfort with documentation systems. Ability to work independently, organize tasks, and manage time effectively. Experience supporting children and families preferred. Education & Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Health, or related field OR CDA + one year of experience OR three years of Social Services experience. Willingness to obtain Home Visitation Training within the first year. CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire. Pass physical exam, TB test, drug screen, and criminal background checks. Valid driver's license meeting agency insurance guidelines.
