Family Promise of Greater Wichita is currently in search of a Children Education Facilitator to support families during our weekly Family Education Classes offered at Family Promise of Greater Wichita. We have excellent volunteer and board support and a compassionate team of colleagues that join in on the mission. The work of the organization includes 3 core programs: Shelter services
- working with families in our local community that are currently facing homelessness Emergency Services
- providing financial assistance and case management to those facing eviction in order to prevent a homeless crisis Stabilization Services
- working with families long term to ensure that there are sustainable solutions in place The Child Education Facilitator prepares and leads activities and curriculum for young learners (approximate ages 7-13) once a week on Thursday evenings while their parents and other siblings are also in class.
- Every Thursday 4:30 PM
- 7:00 PM Pay
- $37.50 for 1 session per week
- up to $150/Month Job responsibilities include:
- Prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans (~1.5 hr/session) with clear cognitive, social, behavioral, and play-based objectives
- Facilitate weekly group sessions that use routines, choices, and activities to build problem-solving, cooperation, self-regulation, and fun.
- Lead and direct volunteer assistants (pre-session review and role assignment) and monitor child participation, progress, and any concerns for their parents and FP staff.
- Communicate/collaborate with Family Promise staff and families, follow trauma informed care and confidentiality policies, and give at least 7 days' notice for unavailability. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree or seeking career in Education/Human and Social Services/Early Childhood Development.
- Experience facilitating children's activities, redirecting children's behavior.
- 2 years experience working with children preferred
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.
