QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.

One-year experience in working with children.

Complete current training in First Aid and CPR.

Must hold or be willing to work towards KY Child Care Director Credential

An associate's degree in early childhood teaching, education, or a related discipline is recommended.

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide supervision during designated non-school hours in a safe, relaxed atmosphere, offering recreation, creativity, and socialization to each child, regardless of race, income, creed, or ethnic origin. To provide learning opportunities through enrichment activities for educational, social, and emotional growth. To assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups, typically in programs with exceptional children or equivalent programs; monitor and report student progress. Center Leader I incumbents manage centers that offer before

•and after-school and/or daytime enrichment care for fewer than 100 students; Foster Heights, Cox's Creek, Bloomfield, Boston and New Haven. Center Leader II incumbents manage centers that offer before

•and after-school care and daytime enrichment for more than 100 students; the Early Learning Center.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Start Strong Administrator to build and support NC Start Strong Program.
  • Accepts responsibility for the operations of the program and maintains expectations for student and staff performance. Follows and implements regulations of the Division of Regulated Child Care for licensed programs and the All-STARS program..
  • Ensures two-way communication with families, both to seek input and to provide information.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Provides supervision and guidance to other staff, such as designing schedules, conducting evaluations/meetings, planning for training, and managing time clock.
  • Designs a student schedule and lesson plans that addresses academic, social emotional, physical, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Maintains required and appropriate documentation and records.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with the director, school principal, and classroom teachers regarding issues and concerns for students, staff, or the program in general.
  • Conducts family involvement and education events.
  • Follows and maintains the financial or budgetary responsibilities for the site, such as parent billing, completion of subsidy paperwork, and submission of purchase requisitions.
  • Ensures the safety of students and staff, including adhering to safety regulations/procedures and providing direction to others in how to do so.

  • Confers, as needed, with teachers and families to address the unique needs of individual students.

Participate in team meetings scheduled by the director and in-service training programs as assigned. Participates in professional learning, including required training and completion of the Commonwealth Child Care Credential, Child Development Associate, and Kentucky All STAR Program. Demonstrates punctuality and regular attendance. Maintains appropriate professional appearance.

Adheres to the appropriate code of ethics.

Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Child guidance principles and practices.

Knowledge of theories of parent-child relationships.

Basic computer knowledge, including creation and use of email, spreadsheets, and documents

Application of First Aid and CPR.

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, sitting on floor or in small student chairs. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights; lift up to 50 pounds.

Requires the ability to attend to the personal needs of children.
