  • Big Sandy Area Community Action Program is looking for a Disability Services Manager to join our team and become a leader in early childhood development and education.
Position Summary :
A Disability Manager will assist in the coordination and provision of services for Head Start children with disabilities and their families throughout our five county service area.
Job duties and details:
Plans the disability services program in conjunction with staff, parents and other component specialists and supervise implementation. Develops program policies and procedures for responding to the needs and transition of children with disabilities. Develops and implements system for continuous monitoring and evaluation of services for disabled children. Monitoring of education activities which includes periodic on-site observation of classroom environments, curriculum, screening and assessment. Maintains a list of local resources, a system to use these resources, and establishes working relationships with local providers through contractual agreements, as appropriate. Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and staff by periodically completing CLASS and ECERS observation tools as well as assigned monitoring functions using the agency data tracking system (COPA.)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferred in Early Childhood Education or related field Previous experience in coordinating disability related services is preferred, but not required Ability to travel to classrooms in a five county area and monitor teaching staff to assure the effective implementation of early childhood principles Knowledge of community resources which provide services to disabled persons. Strong interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to: professional appearance, communication orally and in written form, listening, time management, punctuality, and dependability Valid driver's license and some travel required Hire subject to Head Start policies on background check and drug screening Benefits
