This position also provides supervision and mentorship to other social workers on the Psych Consult Liaison team. Licensure at the independent level (LICSW) is required. Preference is given to those who are experienced in the delivery of services to children and families, with particular focus on the impact of acute and chronic illness on patients/families as well as on child development. As a member of an organization committed to service excellence, participation in quality improvement planning, team, and staff meetings are expected. This is a full-time position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Monitors social work caseloads and provides members of the social work team with ongoing supervision and support. 2. Identifies family needs, finds appropriate resources, and completes necessary applications/referrals. 3. Actively participates in meetings such as interdisciplinary rounds, rehab rounds, transition meetings, discharge planning meetings and patient care conferences. 4. Provides therapeutic services to families. 5. Works in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, including external partners. 6. Maintains contact with collaterals. In cases where the child is in DCF custody, social worker will liaise with the Department as needed for coordination of care while at FCH. 7. Provides staff support when needed and assists staff in recognizing challenges related to patient and family's social complexities to allow staff to provide trauma informed care. 8. Completes required documentation and paperwork, including initial assessments within 48 hours of admission and progress notes in a timely manner. 9. Provides supervision for other social work staff or trainees as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MSW

in clinical social work is required Licensure at the independent level (LICSW) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts At least five to seven years of experience (preferably at least two years in a hospital setting) Experience with children and families dealing with complex medical issues (preferably at least one year of which was in a hospital or rehabilitation setting) Prior experience with supervising staff and/or social work interns is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

§ Effective leadership and supervisory skills in ensuring high-quality care and facilitating the organized coordination and delivery of social work and psychosocial services.. Clinical competencies in the delivery of therapeutic services to children and families, with particular focus on the impact of acute and chronic illness on patients/families as well as on child development. Knowledge and skill in performing psychosocial assessments and treatment planning with a variety of patient populations, including competency in assessment and use of DSM-5 diagnoses, developmental psychology, and strategic interventions to engage difficult and/or resistant clients. Ability to provide high quality therapeutic support to families on the medical units. An understanding of work in a health care setting as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Knowledge and skills in examining cultural factors at work with individuals and families in medical settings. Understanding health care issues as they relate to cultural diversity and disenfranchised populations. Knowledge of specialized community resources for medically ill children and their families. Effective risk management skills and experience, including strategic and systemic interventions. § A well-developed understanding of risk management and compliance issues and an ability to train others in these issues § Highly organized and able to complete multiple tasks
