The intern will gain hands-on experience providing social services, case management, and psycho-education under the supervision of a licensed social worker. This role is ideal for MSW students seeking field placement or practicum hours and looking to serve immigrant and underserved populations with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual support, crisis intervention, and psycho-education to Haitian Creole, speaking clients Assist with client intakes, assessments, and service planning Support case management tasks including referrals, follow-ups, and coordination with community resources Participate in outreach, advocacy, and program development targeting Haitian immigrant families Translate documents and interpret during meetings and appointments as needed Attend supervision meetings and staff trainings. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency and school standards Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality requirements as outlined by NASW and organizational policies
Qualifications:
Master of Social Work (MSW) Fluency in English and Haitian Creole
REQUIRED
Strong communication, cultural humility, and interpersonal skills Passion for working with immigrant communities and under-resourced populations Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Basic computer and documentation skills Prior experience in human services, advocacy, or social work (preferred but not required)
