Monday•Friday, Hours vary (10-15 Hours/Week)
Certifications/Licenses Required:
Valid MA Class D Driver's License, College Student enrolled in Social Work Degree SUMMARY The City of Chicopee's Council on Aging Department is hiring an Intern who will assist COA Outreach Coordinator and other staff members in providing social services and application assistance to Chicopee seniors, age 55 and older, and their caregivers. Facilitates access to appropriate resources and services, including, but not limited to: fuel assistance, food stamps, housing, transportation, housing, legal services, financial planning, adult day health programs, nursing homes, and Senior Companion Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE
Shadows Outreach Coordinator and learn how to assist older adults applying for SNAP and fuel assistance. Observes all outreach support groups, including Grandparents as Parents, Grief Support Group, Alzheimer's Support Group, and Memory Connections. Acquires applications/forms/instructions for public/private programs, explains entitlement and benefit programs, and explains application procedures and appeals process, and explains eligibility requirements. Assists elders and caregivers in filling out necessary and appropriate forms and applications. Completes other duties as requested by the Council on Aging Assistant Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid MA Class D Driver's License.•Required College Student enrolled in Social Work Degree.•Required
