The Church Hill Elementary School Judy Center Early Learning Hub is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Translator/Interpreter to support communication and engagement with multilingual families. This grant-funded, part-time position plays an essential role in helping families access early childhood resources, participate in programming, and build strong partnerships with the Judy Center.The ideal candidate is fluent in both English and Spanish, enjoys working with families of young children, and is committed to creating welcoming, inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking, and interpreting) required.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred, but not required.
- Experience translating written documents and providing verbal interpretation.
- Experience working with young children, families, schools, or community organizations is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Reliable transportation for occasional outreach activities.
- Knowledge of early childhood education or family engagement programs.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse families.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oral interpretation for families during Judy Center events, playgroups, meetings and outreach activities.
- Translate written materials including flyers, newsletters, forms, surveys, social media posts, and family communications.
- Assist staff with culturally responsive communication to ensure families have equitable access to services and resources.
- Support outreach efforts to connect with multilingual families within the Church Hill Elementary School community.
- Attend Judy Center playgroups and family engagement events as needed to provide interpretation services.
- Assist with registration and communication for family programs and events.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with school system policies.
- Collaborate with Judy Center staff and community partners to strengthen family engagement.
HOURS:
- Not to exceed 10 hours per week.
- Flexible schedule based on program needs, including occasional evenings for family engagement events and playgroups.
PAY RATE
Compensation is commensurate with experience and in accordance with grant funding anddistrict guidelines.- This is a part time non benefited position
