Student Support Specialist /
One Year Position Mount Vernon & Wayne Elementary Schools Start Date:
August 25, 2026
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Student Support Specialist to serve students at Wayne Elementary School and Mt. Vernon Elementary School, two small rural community schools within RSU #38. Funded through a CSI grant, this position focuses on improving student attendance, family engagement, and behavior support. The Student Support Specialist will provide intervention services, maintain consistency in behavioral expectations, and serve as a key liaison among families, students, and school staff. This is a one-year grant-funded position.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Master's degree and certifications in teacher education, special education, administration, school counseling, social work, or relevant fields Experience working with students and families in a school or community setting Knowledge of tiered support frameworks (MTSS) and trauma-informed practices Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and community members Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Experience with attendance intervention and family engagement strategies preferred
Certification :
Current Maine certification or licensure in teacher education, special education, administration, school counseling, social work, or relevant fields.

Salary Range:
$47,500 through $84,575 based on degree level and years of experience.
