School Year Primary Function:
To work in partnership with families, parents, care givers and students in a school context to enable students to have full access to educational opportunities and overcome barriers to learning and participation. Qualifications•
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in social work or counseling required; master's in social work or State Licensed preferred. Experience in a Family Social Agency or school setting is strongly preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with staff in identifying students who are experiencing circumstances which impede their ability to thrive in a normal school setting. Lead school wide behavior programs. Assist the student and family in recognizing and working through critical problem situations that have a negative impact on the student's adjustment and performance in school, through such strategies as individual and group counseling. Assist teachers in recognizing, understanding, and responding to conditions within the student's life which may cause failure to thrive at school. Assist parents in the adjustment of their child through the use of individual and group counseling strategies. Develop and offer effective parenting workshops. Make referrals to specialized agencies and serve as the contact person between these agencies and the school. Make home visits when necessary. Keep teachers and administrators informed regarding the progress of cases referred. Provide school-wide professional development. Assist students with regulating behaviors and emotions. Participate in MTSS. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures. Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission. Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
