You aren't just "watching" kids; you are guiding them through a scientifically-backed protocol that builds new neural pathways. Many of the young children you will work with may have difficulty with attention, emotional regulation, following directions, transitions, frustration, or remaining engaged in structured activities. They may have developmental, behavioral, learning, or sensory-related challenges that require a patient and highly skilled approach. The Daily Reality This is a high-energy, detail-oriented role. Unlike a classroom where every day is a surprise, our program is highly structured.

You will:

Lead students,1-on-1 or partnered, through sensory-motor and cognitive exercises. Work primarily with children ages 4-18, with a strong emphasis on supporting our younger students. Execute a specific, prescribed program with 100% accuracy. Document student data in real-time as they work. Keep young children engaged, motivated, and moving through activities. Maintain a firm-but-fair & fun environment where students feel safe, supported, and appropriately challenged. Help young students work through challenging behaviors, big feelings, frustration, and difficulty following directions while providing calm, consistent, and supportive guidance. Adapt your communication and engagement style to meet the developmental needs of students. Stay physically active throughout sessions, including moving, kneeling, crouching, standing and participating in sensory-motor activities. What Success Looks Like In 30

Days:

You are fully trained on the Brain Balance protocol and can lead a session solo while maintaining accurate data logs. In 60

Days:

You will have built strong rapport with your regular students and developed confidence managing the day-to-day challenges that can come with working with younger children, including big feelings, frustration, transitions, and difficulty following directions. In 90

Days:

You will be a confident, proactive member of our team who can independently lead students through their programs, maintain a structured environment, and provide thoughtful observations about student progress and needs.

Must-Haves The Schedule:

Available every M/W/Th from approximately 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The Vibe:

Warm and positive + structured and productive. You like kids, and you know how to engage and lead them.

The Physicality:

Ability to lift 50 lbs and move from a kneeling/crouching position to standing repeatedly.

The Background:

Proven experience working with children with ADHD or ASD, or experience with behavioral interventions (Montessori, ABA, teaching, coaching, para-professionals, exercise science are all good fits). Nice-to-Haves Applicants with an LLPC, LPC, LSW or LLMSW have the opportunity to work with students receiving services through the State of Michigan Post-Adoptive Medical Subsidy Program at Brain Balance of Oakland County. Experience in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Montessori Education, Special Education, or other child-centered educational environments. A degree in Psychology, Education, Exercise Science, or a related field. Experience in roles requiring high personal accountability—such as lead roles, opening/closing responsibilities, or solo project management. Work experience in a school setting Experience supporting children with ADHD, ASD, executive functioning challenges, or emotional/behavioral regulation difficulties. You are comfortable leading children through structured activities and maintaining engagement, even when tasks become challenging. You can remain calm, patient, and professional when responding to challenging behaviors or heightened emotions.
