Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a significant difference in the lives of students as a school social worker in a dynamic K-12 special education district. This contract opportunity starts as soon as possible and continues through mid-June 2026. Your expertise will directly support students and families, collaborating closely with educational professionals and contributing to a positive school environment onsite each day.
Key Qualifications:
Active Michigan school social work certification (310) is required; please provide a copy with your application. Experience working with K-12 students in a school or special education setting highly preferred. Familiarity with the needs of diverse learners and understanding of IEP processes. Ability to collaborate with school staff, administrators, and families to develop and implement individualized student plans. Supervisory arrangements must be in place prior to interviewing if certification is not available.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct social work services to students, including assessments, counseling, and crisis intervention. Design and implement strategies to support the social and emotional well-being of students in a special education context. Serve as a key team member, participating in IEP meetings and collaborating on individualized educational goals. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and required reports. Liaise with families, outside agencies, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive student support.
