The Shelter Support position is responsible for assisting the day-to-day operations of the emergency shelter while providing support to families. This position reports to the Wyoming Park Family Shelter Program Manager.

Assess inventory of basic need items on site and restock items. Gather and disperse food and clothing donations to families. Assist in meal planning, preparation and meal distribution to families. Assist and coordinate in-kind donations with families and partner agencies. Provide support to families via phone. Provide transportation for families using agency vans, if needed. Demonstrates the ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Assist in reporting emergency situations to the Program Manager. Provides support with Family Promise special events, as needed. Other tasks as assigned.
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent degree preferred or equivalent work experience considered Valid driver's license Basic first aid training and/or CPR certification preferred Supportive of our organizational mission and of faith-based initiatives and programming Ability to work all shifts, as needed to support the operations of shelter Volunteer experience with non-profits and families preferred Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Must have the ability to identify risk factors Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team. Must be able to work well with colleagues, board members and volunteers. Must be detail oriented and able to execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Gmail/google drive. This position is in-person, with work performed at the Family Promise - Wyoming Park Family Shelter. The Shelter Support must be available to work part-time hours and occasional holiday availability, if necessary. This role requires frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds and the ability to stand, walk, and navigate a multi-level building throughout the shift.
