Job Description
East Missouri Action Agency has an opening for a Family Advocate in Head Start. This position is responsible for helping parents provide their children with benefits of participation in Head Start and working with parents to improve their parenting skills; assisting parents in identifying family resources and needs and then helping families obtain services to meet the identified needs; and coordination and implementation of health services and mental health services, as well as follow-ups to these services as needed for all enrolled children in the assigned area. Applicant must be 18 or older and possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have three (3) years experience in working with adults and young children or two (2) year degree in a related field. An annual physical exam, TB test and valid driver's license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation are required. Candidate must be able to lift up to 10 pounds easily, work in moderate noise levels and drive in poor weather conditions. Good written and oral communication skills are also required. Knowledge of health related issues that pertain to children and families, professional appearance and demeanor, good attendance and participation in all appropriate training are a must. This position works 40 hours/week on Monday - Friday.
