Before and After School Academy Counselor Kernersville Family YMCA - Kernersville, NC 27284 Apply Overview Salary Range $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly Position Type Seasonal Job Shift Variable Apply Description Under the direction of the site supervisor, the before and after school academy counselor will work directly at an assigned site leading children in before and after school settings. This position is responsible for identifying and meeting student needs, providing interactive guidance and leadership to children with a focus on character development, centered on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Essential Functions Coordinates the site in accordance with YMCA guidelines, ensuring all program curriculum and materials are prepared accordingly and accessible. Builds effective, authentic relationships with staff, students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers. Maintains records as required (i.e. site checklist, attendance, food service, staff & student forms, etc.). Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes corrective action, discipline, incident and accident reports as necessary. Ensures that the site is kept organized and all supplies are put away daily. Reports damaged equipment. Required to Participate in Aquatics Activities during out of school time (Including Swimming, or Deck Supervision) Also, the counselor will be involved directly with school personnel, and/or YMCA Staff and is expected to build a professional working relationship with his/her assigned site (school or branch) under the direction of the site supervisor.
