Job Responsibilities Purpose:
A Maintenance worker performs a variety of manual activities including cleaning and maintaining buildings. The employee performs a variety of duties in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Moves and arranges furniture both for classrooms as well as general purpose rooms/auditorium. Assembles furniture upon arrival as needed. Assists with installation of HVAC units located throughout the building. Performs roof repairs with appropriate materials to prevent leakage in building. Transports curriculum orders and classroom supplies to designated locations, as needed. Performs plumbing repairs including replacing toilets and urinals. Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways and closets. Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces. Scrubs and cleans rest room fixtures. Maintains inventory, control of supplies and maintenance of equipment to operate interior maintenance. Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in rest rooms, kitchens and classroom facilities. Replaces light bulbs and florescent tubes. Polices all trash and debris inside and on the grounds. Lawn, flower bed and external landscaping. Ensure sidewalks and external entrances clear of debris and safe for students and guests. General cleanliness and repair of ceilings, windows, walls, floors, and desks. Empties wastebaskets and other refuse receptacles. Locks and unlocks doors and gates. Sorts and stores material for recycling program. Makes minor repairs to furniture or facilities. Reports to supervisor damages or needed repairs requiring outside attention. Turns heating and air conditioning equipment on and off. Performs routine maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems. Records and reports all hazards and safety issues to be addressed and added to maintenance lists with Office Manager, then Headmaster. Qualifications The Maintenance will have the following experience and attributes: Knowledgeable of OSHA standards and requirements Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment. Some knowledge of procedures to operate heating and air conditioning equipment. Skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning and landscaping. Ability to maintain positive working relations. Ability to perform duties without interrupting ongoing classes/teachers unless specified or an emergency. Able to climb stairs and meet physical demands of the job without the use of an elevator. Able to climb an extension ladder to perform certain job duties. Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions. Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lbs and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
