Job Summary Benisons Youth and Family Services is seeking a dedicated Placement Worker to join our team supporting children and youth in need of safe, stable, out-of-home placements. In this role, you will assess referrals, place children in licensed and approved foster homes, and provide ongoing casework support to foster families in accordance with 391 NAC Chapter 8 and related Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) licensing standards. This position is central to our mission of protecting the health, safety, and well-being of children who cannot remain in their parents' or guardians' care, while supporting reunification, kinship placement, or adoption as appropriate. Responsibilities Conduct assessments and home studies of prospective foster, relative, and kinship homes, evaluating safety, stability, and the ability to meet a child's health, educational, developmental, and emotional needs Provide foster parents with all available information about a child in writing prior to placement, and ensure execution of required placement agreements, medical consent forms, and payment agreements at or immediately following placement Supervise and support licensed and approved foster homes to ensure ongoing compliance with Title 395 NAC and agency standards Maintain individualized case records documenting each child's placement history, needs, and progress Coordinate with foster families, biological parents/guardians, courts, and other agencies to support case planning, reunification, or permanency goals Ensure the timely reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect as required under Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 28-372 and 28-711, and ensure the Nebraska Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline number is accessible to children and families served Complete and maintain required pre-employment criminal history record checks, central registry checks, and any other background clearances required for staff who have contact with children and families Avoid and disclose any conflict of interest when performing home studies, placements, or supervision involving staff, board members, or their family members Participate in the agency's quality assurance and improvement activities and contribute to the agency's written program description Qualifications Relevant education and/or experience in social work, human services, child welfare, or a related field Working knowledge of Nebraska child welfare licensing requirements, including 391 NAC Chapter 8 and related statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 71-1901 et seq.) Ability to pass required criminal history, central registry, and other background checks as a condition of employment Strong assessment, documentation, and case management skills Sound judgment in evaluating child safety and family stability Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with foster families, biological families, children, courts, and community partners Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with agency conflict-of-interest and reporting requirements Reliable transportation for home visits and placement-related travel This role is well-suited to someone committed to child welfare who can balance compassionate, family-centered casework with strict adherence to state licensing and safety standards. Bachelors is required.
