• Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $31.50 per hour. Why does the job exist? This position listens to the needs of inmates and their families and works with officials to resolve practical problems in the prison system. How does it get done? Reviews, investigates and responds to inmate grievances. Makes recommendations to the facility Wardens on inmate disciplinary appeals. Provides inmates with information and resources, promoting open lines of communication. Investigates concerns as necessary. Who are the customers? The New Mexico Corrections Department New Mexico Corrections Department Inmates Ideal Candidate The New Mexico Corrections Department New Mexico Corrections Department Inmates Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and one (1) year of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Working Conditions Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates.
