Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting a middle school student with severe autism and high needs as a dedicated full-time Social Worker. This contract position begins August 4, 2026, and offers both flexibility and the chance to make a lasting difference. Work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the added convenience of one day remote each week. You'll have the opportunity to provide direct 1:1 support while also guiding an Educational Assistant in best practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

Valid Social Worker license in New Mexico, or eligible for licensure Experience in a school setting, ideally with students with disabilities or special education needs Background working with severe autism, behavioral challenges, or high-needs populations Understanding of healthcare support within school environments Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and guide support staff

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 social, emotional, and behavioral support to a middle school student with severe autism Develop and implement individualized strategies to enhance student engagement and success Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support Offer ongoing guidance and mentorship to the Educational Assistant assigned to the student Monitor progress, document interventions, and adjust plans as needed Utilize flexible scheduling to best meet student and school needs
