Job Description

BACKGROUND
Forestdale is a NYC child welfare agency working to prevent child abuse/neglect through parenting, prevention, and foster care services, focusing on low-income and immigrant communities in NYC. Forestdale operates out of three offices to better serve the families of Brooklyn and Queens. We help thousands of families work through complex trauma, parents raise the next amazing generation of children, and youth successfully launch into adulthood. Forestdale s mission is to ensure that children and families have the fundamental assets they need to thrive and live independently. Job Summary The
LMSW/LBHP
is responsible for assessment and treatment planning for all children on his/her caseload in the foster care program. S/he supports the use of best practice behavioral health assessment and treatment and ensures NY State and City regulatory compliance. Salary Masters/Limited License

  • $69,000 Major Responsibilities/Activities for this position include: Performing clinical and trauma-based assessments of youth and children Completing disposition summaries for all intake visits; establishing treatment goals for children, utilizing historical and current available information in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
Assisting children and youth to develop skills as defined in treatment goals Providing psychotherapeutic supports and therapy. Providing individual counseling and treatment, substance abuse counseling and treatment, trauma-informed counseling and treatment, family and group counseling, transitional counseling. Promoting integration with community resources and skill-building. Providing psycho-education and wellness education. Communicating with family, case planning staff and medical practitioners. Enhancing compliance with behavioral expectations. Utilizing interventions drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic methodology. Structuring interventions to decrease problem behavior and increase developmentally appropriate pro-social behavior. Participating in multidisciplinary clinical team meetings, as needed Participating in case conferences, as scheduled and needed Reviewing incoming behavioral health evaluations and communicating recommendations to foster care and clinical staff for follow up; supporting the Director of Behavioral Health with coordinating recommendation follow up. Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Master s degree from an accredited university in behavioral sciences or related field Preferred 1-3 years experience delivering direct services to children, youth and families.

Required background checks, including NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse/Maltreatment, NYS Sex Offender Registry, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services fingerprinting, NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List, NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List. Mandated reporter training. Applicable provisions of the NYS Education Law with respect to hiring and retaining of licensed professionals Additional Comments Limited permit is allowed with the condition that License will be obtained within two months prior limited permit expires.
