Candidates must hold appropriate New York State certification in one of the following areas: School Social Worker School Counselor School Psychologist Experience working with elementary-aged students is preferred. Altamont Elementary School & Lynnwood Elementary School November 25, 2026 - March 5, 2027 (Anticipated) Guilderland Central School District is seeking a qualified school mental health professional to provide services to elementary students at Altamont Elementary School and Lynnwood Elementary School during a leave of absence. Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide school-based mental health and student support services designed to promote students' social-emotional well-being, school engagement, and access to learning.

Responsibilities may include:

Providing individual and small-group counseling and social-emotional support to students identified through students' IEPs and/or Section 504 Plans. Supporting students experiencing behavioral, emotional, social, family, or school-related challenges. Consulting and collaborating with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other school personnel. Partnering with parents and caregivers to support student needs. Assisting with crisis intervention, safety planning, and student reentry or transition planning when needed. Connecting students and families with appropriate school, community, and mental health resources. Collaborating with outside providers and community agencies, as appropriate. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school team, and an understanding of the social-emotional and developmental needs of elementary-aged students.
