Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations.
SCHEDULE 8
hours per weekly to be determined by employee. SUMMARY Family Service League is seeking a part-time Bilingual Spanish Social Worker for the Family Place Library in Riverhead. The Bilingual Social Worker will serve the library patrons at the Riverhead Free Library with social and emotional needs and provide case management, short-term counseling and crisis intervention, and facilitate referrals to mental health clinics and other community-based programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Bilingual Spanish Social Worker will conduct intakes and assessments of individuals and families. Provide individual and family counseling. Co-facilitate library groups. The Bilingual Spanish Social Worker will assist in linking eligible clients with public benefits and assist clients with applying. Provide linkage to more intensive mental health services. The Bilingual Spanish Social Worker will provide referrals to higher levels of care. Provide crisis intervention, when needed. Document client contacts accurately and timely. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field required. Two years of relevant clinical experience required. At least one year of prior experience working with individuals with mental illness and their families required. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources is also required. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and referral processing required. Must be able to perform suicide risk assessments and provide short term counseling. Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office required. Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required. Bilingual in Spanish required.
