Job purpose

Provide on-site and in-home ECMH consultation, education, and training to families, caregivers and collaborating professionals working with young children birth to six who are at risk for social, emotional, and developmental difficulties.

Duties and responsibilities

• Align practice and work with the agency mission, vision, guiding principles, trauma-informed care, the Neurosequential Model and the Re-ED philosophy.
  
• Provide consultation and training to parents, caregivers, and professionals in the identification
  of young children with and at-risk of social, emotional, and other developmental difficulties.
• Perform appropriate social-emotional assessments using The Childhood Trust Events Survey,
  the appropriate DECA-IT, DECA-P2, or DECA-C, and others as needed/appropriate.
  
• Use interviewing and direct observation to identify needs, strengths, resources, stressors or
  problems and design interventions with parents/caregivers to promote their capacity-building for
  growth and change.
• Teach and provide parents/caregivers with early childhood information and intervention
  strategies to improve behavior, communication and social skills at home.
• Develop and support collaboration between parents, caregivers, and other professionals or
  service providers working with the family.
  
• Link parents and caregivers to available community resources to meet child and family needs;
  make or facilitate appropriate referrals, including ECMH treatment services and school district
  SPED services.
• Assist with the assessment, management and resolution of crisis situations.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, reporting activities and computer data entry in
  a timely manner in accordance with Invest in Children (IIC)and PEP policy and procedures.
• Effectively and professionally collaborate with community partners.
• Effectively communicate and empathize with clients from a wide variety of cultural
  backgrounds and socio-economic status.
• Understand the principles and practices of the Ohio Model of ECMH.
• Understand the principles and practices of the Conscious Discipline model.
• Possess an in-depth understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate
  practices and interventions.
• Possess counseling skills that include identification of the problem, designing interventions,
  and evaluation of their effectiveness. Qualifications
  
• Master's Degree and social work or counseling license preferred
  
• Candidate must have knowledge of community resources.
• Candidates must have several years' experience working with children with serious behavior
  and social/emotional problems.
• Communicate accurately and effectively, both written and orally.
• Demonstrate effective decision-making, consultation, and presentation skills.
• Utilize good judgment under routine and stressful work conditions.
• Superior time management skills and attention to details.
• Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others.
• Candidates must be able to work daily hours as scheduled, including occasional evenings.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
