Lakewood, Ohio Job Summary:

Child care coordinator spends time providing loving and nurturing care for the children of women residing at Zelie's Home. This allows mothers and staff to fully engage in program activities knowing that their children are being well cared for, contributing to the overall supportive learning environment that is essential to each individual's successful building of the skills and capacities to develop growth and independence.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times Ensure safe sleep practices for infants and prevent injury risks for all children Assist toddlers with toileting and hygiene as needed/indicated by mom Prepare and provide meals, bottles, and/or snacks per mom instructions Engage in developmentally appropriate and creative activities/games with children Follow parents' instructions and routines for sleep, feeding, diaper changes, etc. Effectively communicate with mom about the daily activities, developmental observations, and any concerns at the end of the shift Report concerns about behavior, health, and safety immediately Administer basic first aid and medication if necessary (per parent instruction). Create and maintain a safe, warm, and developmentally supportive environment for the children, including contributing to the organization and setup of the designated child care room in each home so that it best meets the needs of infants and toddlers Take initiative to support the household and children by completing any additional tasks or responsibilities that arise at the direction of your supervisor

High school diploma or GED Experience as a babysitter, nanny, or child care provider Experience working with people from diverse, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds Willingness to learn and adapt to working environment Alignment with Zelie's Home core values and sanctity of human life. Adult and Infant CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to lift 30+ lbs and perform physically active caregiving

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of community living, cultural competencies, and the intersectional nature of homelessness, poverty, ACEs, and trauma informed care. Experience with and or exposure to infants and toddlers At least 1 year of experience as a babysitter, nanny, or child care provider
