About the
Position:
The Madison County Department of Job and Family Services is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and professional Social Service Worker 2 - Intake to join our Children Services Division. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families involved in child welfare services. Under the direction of the Social Services Supervisor 1, the Social Service Worker 2 - Intake will provide direct services through client counseling, home visits, and monitor treatment and progress of the child/children. The role also involves attending court hearings and participating in administrative case reviews. Key Responsibilities Investigation of allegations of abuse, neglect, dependency, delinquency, and unruliness (65%): Collecting data from family members, neighbors, schools, and law enforcement. Conduct home visits, assess family situations, and monitor progress toward case plan goals. Coordinate services and interventions (30%): Work with community agencies; perform crisis intervention and child placements as needed. Prepare reports, dictations, and case plans; assemble court packets and attend hearings. Maintain all required licensures, attend professional development trainings, and comply with agency safety standards. Other Duties (5%): Serve as on-call case worker as assigned and perform related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience :
At least 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certifications :
Valid Ohio driver's license and insurability under County vehicle insurance policy.
Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of child development, social work techniques, and community resources. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes emotionally charged environment and handle sensitive situations. Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
