A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Our school serves students in Emotional Support and Autistic Support classrooms , providing individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support in a structured and supportive environment. The Licensed Social Worker will work collaboratively with teachers, behavior analysts, behavioral health staff, school leadership, families, and outside providers to help students overcome barriers to learning and successfully participate in their educational program. What We Offer A supportive, collaborative team environment Small classroom sizes and individualized student support The opportunity to work closely with special education teachers, BCBAs, RBTs, BHT-ABAs, and other professionals A school environment focused on compassionate, student-centered care Competitive compensation Medical, prescription, dental, and vision benefits for eligible full-time employees Short Term & Long Term Disability Insurance, Cricitical Ilness Insurance, and Accident Insurance 401k matching Mileage Reimbursement PTO & Paid Holidays The opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and families and make a lasting impact Responsibilities Provide individual and small-group social-emotional support to students in grades K-12 Support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, family, or environmental challenges that may impact their education Complete social work assessments and provide recommendations based on individual student needs Participate in the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as appropriate Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, BCBAs, behavior support staff, and administration to address student needs Provide crisis intervention and support for students experiencing significant emotional or behavioral challenges Assist students in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, social skills, and self-advocacy Serve as a liaison between the school, families, community agencies, mental health providers, and other outside supports Connect students and families with appropriate community resources and services when needed Participate in parent/guardian meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and other student-centered meetings Support school attendance, engagement, transitions, and other barriers that may interfere with educational progress Assist with transition planning for older students when appropriate Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with school policies and applicable state and federal requirements Maintain professional boundaries and protect student and family confidentiality Support a positive, safe, trauma-informed, and compassionate school environment Work collaboratively with the school team during behavioral or emotional crises while maintaining student dignity and safety Complete other student-support responsibilities as assigned within the scope of the position
Qualifications Required:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program Current Pennsylvania Licensed Social Worker (LSW) credential in good standing Ability to successfully complete all required Pennsylvania clearances and background checks for employment working with children Strong communication, organization, documentation, and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Preferred:
Previous experience working in a school, special education, behavioral health, mental health, or similar setting Experience working with children or adolescents with autism, emotional/behavioral needs, intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other diverse learning needs Knowledge of IEPs and the special education process Experience with crisis intervention, family support, case management, or community resource coordination Familiarity with trauma-informed and compassionate approaches to student support Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who understands that student behavior is communication and who approaches challenging situations with patience, empathy, professionalism, and compassion .
