JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:

Master's Level School-based Clinician/Social Worker

REPORTS TO

School Social Worker, Clinical Director / Clinical

Psychologist

LOCATION

Rhode Island Alternative Academy - Mostly Providence Location

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Social Work or School Counselor; preference given to those able to be certified as a R.I Department of Ed.
  • Experience delivering clinical services in programs serving a special needs population.
  • Experience collaborating with members of a clinical and educational team.
  • Experience providing consultation regarding behavioral issues to school personnel who work with students with special needs across a variety of disability categories and levels, age levels, and levels of restrictiveness of environments.

Ability to design/utilize Positive Behavioral Supports, Functional Behavior Analysis/Assessment, the School-Wide Positive Behavioral Intervention of Supports Model, Behavioral Improvement Plan, and other positive and effective behavioral, social-emotional intervention strategies individually tailored to students' specific needs.

Availability during after-school hours to meet with parents on occasion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide direct clinical services, with supervision and support, for elementary students in a highly restrictive school environment

Participate in the development of individualized behavioral programs for students based on their unique special needs.

Consult with parents, teachers and other RIAA personnel to determine causes of problems and effect solutions.

Provide individual and group counseling to students who are determined to be in need of such services.

Maintain appropriate documentation of services and maintain ongoing collaboration with relevant outside parties.

Recommend changes in educational/behavioral program or other treatments, as needed.

Participate in evaluation team meeting and IEP meetings when scheduled.

Serve as a liaison between RIAA and community resources, such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, protective services such as DCYF and doctors.

Provide consultation in emergency situations for clinical staff regarding both student and staff issues

Assist students and families in making appropriate transition plans for students aged 14 and over.

Perform such other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and / or School Social Worker.
