GENERAL SUMMARY
The position is responsible for working with families and children regionally for the SCACAP Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership Program. The job of a Family Advocate is done for the purpose/s of providing quality, comprehensive child/family support services to infants/toddlers and their families, providing support, training, and case management to assist parents in meeting the needs of their children and enhancing parents' role as the primary influence on their child's education and development and supporting parents in increasing their economic stability; determining eligibility for the program, enrolling families in the program, enlisting parental involvement in child educational programs; working with parents in identifying and achieving goals; accessing support services; creating training programs; and facilitating positive parent, school, and child relationships. The position carries a caseload of 30-40 families and is responsible for case management services. Responsible for creating & developing new partnerships to leverage for family and the agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Support:
Provide comprehensive child and family support services, focusing on the needs of infants and toddlers.
Parent Empowerment:
Assist parents in enhancing their role in their child's education and development, and support their efforts to increase economic stability.
Eligibility & Enrollment:
Determine program eligibility, enroll families, and encourage parental involvement in educational programs.
Goal Setting:
Work with parents to identify and achieve personal and family goals. Access to
Services:
Facilitate access to support services and resources that meet the needs of families.
Training & Education:
Develop and implement training programs for parents to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Relationship Building:
Foster positive relationships between parents, schools, and children to support educational success.
Case Management:
Manage a caseload of 30-40 families, providing ongoing case management services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Within eighteen months of hire, at the minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field plus one year of experience working with families; an Associate degree with two years of experience in a human service program or serving low-income families. BA or BS is preferred in child development, early childhood education, or equivalent coursework.
