JOB SUMMARY
The Family Engagement Specialist is responsible for building and sustaining meaningful partnerships between school and home for all students and families. This role is committed to promoting inclusive practices that ensure equitable access to information, resources, and opportunities that support student academic achievement. The Family Engagement Specialist supports families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds while fostering a school environment where all families feel welcomed, valued, and empowered. This position ensures alignment with federal requirements under Title I, Part A by facilitating effective two-way communication, increasing family participation in school activities, and strengthening families' capacity to support learning at home.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment that encourages active family participation in the school community. Provide families with accessible educational resources, strategies, and materials aligned to students' individual needs and academic goals to support learning at home. Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students and families in need of additional academic or engagement support, ensuring equitable access to services. Coordinate the distribution of school and district resources, ensuring families have timely access to materials that support student success. Facilitate ongoing, effective two-way communication by developing and sharing monthly family engagement calendars, translating materials as needed, and providing outreach in families' home languages, including Spanish. Work collaboratively with parent liaisons, MTSS staff, Title I administrators, counselors, teachers, and community partners to align supports and services that address identified student and family needs. Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing family engagement initiatives, including collaboration with feeder and partner schools to ensure continuity of support. Participate in district-approved professional development to strengthen skills in family engagement, cultural responsiveness, and Title I compliance. Identify and assess family needs related to academic support and access to community resources; communicate findings to school leadership and assist in coordinating appropriate supports. Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate high ethical standards in handling sensitive student and family information. Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor to support school and district family engagement goals.
