What they do

A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Responsibilites:
To assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident?s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by the Director of Social Services.
Key Qualifications:
May be required to possess, as a minimum, a Bachelors Degree from an approved school of Social Work for a certain size facility. Must have one year supervised social work experience in a health care setting working directly with individuals. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the resident served.
