A Family, School, or General Case Manager coordinates the delivery of a range of social and health services to individuals and families. Assess client needs and work with agencies and institutions ensure clients get the help they need. Monitor client and work with other service providers as necessary to address client needs. Provide limited counseling to client and their family.
South Main seeks a Children s Minister who will join us in our mission of Engaging and Equipping Others to Experience and Share God s Transforming Love . We are praying for a ministry leader who loves children, values families, equips volunteers, and helps create safe, joyful, and spiritually formative environments where children can grow in faith. Position Purpose The Children s Minister leads and strengthens South Main s ministry to children, with particular attention to elementary-age children and their families. This person helps children encounter the love of Christ, partners with parents as they disciple their children, and equips volunteers to serve as caring and faithful leaders. The Children s Minister works closely with the Family Discipleship Coordinator so that children s ministry is connected to South Main s broader birth-through-graduation discipleship pathway. Key Responsibilities The Children s Minister will: Lead weekly children s ministry classes, gatherings, and ministry environments with excellence, care, and spiritual purpose. Serve as a primary teacher and communicator to children in age-appropriate ways. Recruit, train, schedule, encourage, and care for adult volunteers who teach and minister to children. Partner with parents and families to support discipleship in the home. Help children experience and practice faith through Scripture, prayer, worship, service, generosity, hospitality, and mission. Select and use curriculum in alignment with South Main s mission and broader family discipleship pathway. Welcome and follow up with new families connected to children s ministry. Plan and support ministry events for children and families, such as Vacation Bible School, Parents Night Out, Wacky Wednesdays, camps, seasonal events, and other ministry gatherings. Maintain safe, hospitable, and well-prepared ministry environments for children, families, and volunteers. Organize and oversee the children s ministry budget and expenditures. Coordinate paid childcare workers as needed. Collaborate with the Family Discipleship Coordinator, Youth Minister, Pastor, Executive Minister, staff, parents, and volunteers to support the overall mission of the church. Theologically aligned with South Main Baptist Church and Texas Baptists. Passionate about helping children experience and share God s transforming love in age-appropriate ways. Deeply committed to lifelong relational discipleship and partnership with parents. Warm, hospitable, and attentive to creating safe and welcoming environments for children and families. Able to build trust and rapport with children, parents, volunteers, and staff. Comfortable teaching children and communicating clearly in both small and large group settings. Organized and dependable in planning, scheduling, communication, follow-through, and volunteer care. Collaborative and team-oriented, with a willingness to work under the ministry alignment and support of the Family Discipleship Coordinator.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Demonstrated experience teaching, discipling, leading, or caring for children in a church, school, nonprofit, or ministry setting. Ability to recruit, train, schedule, encourage, and care for adult volunteers. Ability to communicate well with children, parents, volunteers, and church staff. Commitment to child safety, healthy ministry practices, and hospitable ministry environments. Agreement with the mission, beliefs, and ministry direction of South Main Baptist Church.
Preferred:
Bachelor s degree in Christian education, ministry, family ministry, child development, education, or a related field. Previous paid or significant volunteer experience in children s ministry. Familiarity with age-appropriate curriculum, child safety practices, parent partnership, and volunteer development. Reporting and Ministry Alignment The Children s Minister reports to the Executive Minister for HR matters, including employment status, compensation, personnel policies, formal performance reviews, scheduling expectations, conflict resolution, and formal accountability. The Children s Minister receives ministry-area leadership, vision alignment, coordination, and support from the Family Discipleship Coordinator as part of South Main s birth-through-graduation family discipleship ministry.
