Overview The Community Response Coordinator provides trauma-informed victim/survivor advocacy, crisis intervention, systems coordination, community partnership development, and multidisciplinary response, with primary responsibility for Avalon Center's sexual assault response and Hospital Accompaniment Program. The Coordinator also provides legal advocacy and coordinated community response for victims/survivors of domestic violence and related victimization, including court advocacy, coordination of the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP), and collaboration with law enforcement and other community systems. This position includes on-call hospital accompaniment coverage.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(Additional duties may be designated by Program Director)
- Provides trauma-informed crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, advocacy, information and referral, systems navigation, and follow-up services to sexual assault victims/survivors and eligible family or household members.
- Responds to area hospitals to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, advocacy, information and referral, and hospital accompaniment.
- Oversees Avalon's Hospital Accompaniment Program and serves as Volunteer Lead for hospital accompaniment services.
- Recruits, screens, trains, schedules, coordinates, supervises, and supports volunteers providing sexual assault hospital accompaniment.
- Maintains hospital accompaniment protocols, volunteer training materials, schedules, service documentation, and records of volunteer readiness and coverage.
- Monitors accompaniment coverage and works with staff and volunteers to maintain consistent 24/7 response capacity.
- Provides in-person and telephone legal advocacy and court accompaniment, including assistance related to protective orders, custody and visitation, criminal proceedings, divorce proceedings, and other applicable legal matters.
- Provides information regarding legal rights and court processes and facilitates referrals and warm handoffs to appropriate legal resources.
- Serves as Avalon's Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) Coordinator and works collaboratively with participating law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service records, incident reports, inventory logs, and VADATA reporting in accordance with organizational, grant, and regulatory requirements.
PREPARATION
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in victim advocacy, domestic violence and sexual violence services, or a related human services field preferred.
- Experience coordinating a program and working with volunteers.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with victims, staff and the public.
- Able to work independently and as a team member.
- Strong organizational, computer, verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of pre-employment/annual criminal history review.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
