Month, Salaried Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Advocate to join our Head Start team, serving preschool-aged children and their families. This role bridges the classroom and administrative office, supporting both direct service and program coordination. The Family Advocate plays a vital role in promoting family engagement, facilitating developmental and social/emotional screenings, and participating in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities:

Build strong, supportive relationships with families to foster engagement and advocacy. Conduct developmental and social/emotional screenings for enrolled children. Collaborate with teaching staff and specialists to support students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with Head Start standards. Assist families in accessing community resources and services. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews. Support classroom staff in implementing family-centered practices. Contribute to program planning and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or related field (required), bachelor's preferred. Family Services Certification through National Head Start Association is required. Experience working with families and young children, preferably in a Head Start or early childhood setting. Knowledge of child development, family systems, and community resources. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines. Bilingual skills are a plus.
