The Family Housing Case Manager provides screening, assessment, advocacy and ongoing case management for families experiencing homelessness and living in SSHA's transitional housing program. The Family Stability Case Manager helps families establish and work on short term goals to help them stabilize their lives and move toward securing more stable housing. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Screen and interview applicants moving into housing program. Perform assessments, intakes, case planning, advocacy, referrals and provide ongoing case management services focused on increasing and improving healthy family dynamics. Assess needs related to caregiver education and support and create and monitor a strengths-based family support plan. Assist parents in assessing their children's' needs and providing linkages to resources to meet those needs. Assist families with filling out forms/surveys, leaning about health and nutrition, improving life skills and goal setting around family needs. Meet regularly with families, assisting them in identifying resources, developing action plans, and securing services. Assist families in establishing goals and the steps needed to meet them. Assist families in securing basic household needs. Provide on-going case management services to families after they have transitioned to permanent housing, including working with families on the skills needed to maintain housing. Maintain timely, accurate and up to date client records and statistics, including use of HMIS. Complete reports according to deadlines. Advocate for families with community resources and services; consult, collaborate and maintain good relationships with community providers. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of eligibility and benefits of public and private financial assistance, housing resources, employment, D/A recovery and mental health assistance programs. Help assure tenants maintain their housing units in a safe and healthy condition. Help assure tenants pay rent and utilities in a timely manner and coordinate with Bookkeeper.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent St. Stephen Housing Association in a professional manner out in the community. Understand and adhere to SSHA policies around confidentiality and all standards of conduct as described in the SSHA Policy and Procedure and Personnel Manual. Organize or assist with special projects such as: Day of Caring, Birthday Dreams, MLK Day of Service, Project Cool, Christmas Adopt-a-Family, unit clean-outs. Customer Service - help field questions and inquiries from callers, visitors, donors or others. Maintain a positive and cooperative working relationships with other organization staff. Attend meetings in the community as requested. Provide service during evening hours or weekends as needed, while still maintaining a 30-40 hour work week. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field and minimum two years of experience in human services required. Experience working with low income and or families experiencing homelessness preferred. Strong commitment to valuing diversity and championing anti-racism principles. Demonstrated ability to interact with people of different cultures and abilities. Dedicated commitment to working with families with a Housing First philosophy and to the vision of ending homelessness. Empathic patience with individuals who are heavily-impacted by substance use disorder, mental health issues, and trauma. Knowledge of resources available in King County for low-income families. Knowledge of McKinney Vento Act, ACE's and Trauma Informed Care. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, including strict attention to detail. Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Office software and excellent skill with internet research. Strong ability and ease with working independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work flexible hours, and with changing responsibilities, including tasks not normally part of the job. Valid Washington State driver's license, proof of auto insurance and access to reliable transportation. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds without assistance; position requires frequent driving, walking, ability to climb stairs and working on a computer. Direct service experience, especially in crisis intervention, case management, emergency/traditional housing, and substance abuse. Empathy for low-income, homeless, elderly and any families and individuals in need.
BENEFITS

LOCATION
Main office in Renton, housing sites in Auburn, Kent, Renton, and Tukwila. Additional local area travel may be required for meetings, trainings or other agency reasons.
