We are looking for a Home Visitor

• Early Learning Specialist to support our Families/Family Child Care providers by offering education on childhood development and coaching families to integrate play-based learning in the home. The Home Visitor
• Early Learning Specialist visits enrolled Families/Family Child Care providers in their homes at least twice per week to provide support and services.

They will also assist by identifying resources for basic needs such as (but not limited to) housing, rental assistance, material assistance, and additional support for any other challenges the families may be facing. Voices of Tomorrow (VOT) is a community-based organization operating in King County. Voices of Tomorrow works to break the cycle of educational disparity and to create better futures for East African children. We weave together community voice, language, cultural heritage, and parenting practices with evidence-based, culturally responsive early learning for children and the parents and providers who make up their world. We also advocate for the needs of our communities and prepare community members to advocate for the needs of their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the Home Visitor

• Early Learning Specialist will have the following responsibilities, including but not limited to:
• Recruit, train, and equip Families/Child Care Providers.
• Complete a minimum of two visits per week. This is a continuous program until the child graduates.
• Provide referrals for ongoing training, technical assistance, and coaching to improve Parent/Guardian/FCC Provider early childhood education skills.
• Provide educational books, toys, and learning resources for families/child care providers as required by the program contract.
• Provide access to case management, basic needs, and social supports for the families they serve.
• Support standardized developmental screenings and provide referrals to intervention services as needed for children in Parental/FCC Provider care.
• Convene socialization evenings and develop activities and opportunities for peer learning for Parents/Caregivers/FCC Providers.
• Be available for Voices of Tomorrow events on weekends or evenings to support and promote programs.
• Input data using database systems, including weekly provider contacts, visits, and updated provider-level data.
• Model reading and play for parents to help build relationships between providers and families.
• Document development and progress of provider teacher-child interactions.
• Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and engage in ongoing learning through meaningful activities that support growth.
• Provide strong language models and many opportunities for children to develop language.
• Create and translate materials into the home languages of the providers and families they serve.
• Attend and participate in weekly supervisory and training staff meetings (minimum two hours) and perform any other assigned duties.
• Keep all family information confidential except as required by law.
• Have a reliable vehicle and a valid WA State driver's license to travel within King County.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include at least 2 years of relevant experience. An AA in ECE or a CDA/ECE certificate is required.

Additional expectations include:

• Bilingual speaker (preferred languages: Somali, Arabic, Afghani, Dari, Pashto).
• Reliable transportation, driver's license, and insurance.
• Basic computer skills.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Portable Background Check with MERIT. Skill Set / Characteristics
• Warmth and patience in working with toddlers and families.
• Enjoys working independently and completing responsibilities without daily supervision.
• Non-judgmental attitude toward families and staff.
• Flexibility in home settings, with the ability to respond appropriately to a variety of circumstances and seek guidance when needed.
• Interest in learning about the program model and a commitment to being a life-long learner.
• Knowledge of the community they will be working in.
• Experience working with young children or with community-based organizations.
