Our mission is to provide a professional nurturing, safe, supportive, positive, caring and non-biased environment for all parties involved during visitations between the children and their parents/family members. We pride ourselves in being reliable, non- biased, non-confrontational and non-judgmental. AFVS values diversity, integrity, excellence and client satisfaction and strives to achieve positive outcomes for children and families AFVS offers their sub-contractors the flexibility of working with their availability. You set your own schedule dependent upon how many hours you want to work, your availability and the visits needing to be provided. AFVS strongly supports the assigned visitation supervisor the stability of working with a family throughout the term of the referral instead of on a rotation basis on varying referrals. It has a supportive management team that is there to answer any questions that you may have and offer guidance and support when needed. Role Description This is a sub-contractor role as a Visit Supervisor based out of Tacoma, WA and serving the counties of Pierce, King, Thurston and Kitsap. This is a full-time or part-time role - you set your own schedule dependent upon how many hours you want to work, your availability and the visits needing to be provided. The Visit Supervisor will be responsible for transporting children to and from the visits with their parents, overseeing the supervised visitations, taking detailed documentation of the visitations, online submission of the documentation to DCYF through the Sprout website while ensuring a safe, positive and supportive environment for all parties involved. The ideal candidate will be responsible for upholding ethical standards and providing quality customer service during all interactions. Responsibilities Safely transport children and family members to scheduled visitation appointments, adhering to all safety protocols and traffic laws. Supervise visitations when required, providing a supportive environment that promotes positive interactions between children and their families. Coordinate with caseworkers, social workers, and family law professionals to schedule visits and communicate any scheduling changes or concerns promptly. Maintain detailed records of transportation activities, visitations, incidents, and any relevant observations or concerns. Manage crisis situations effectively by utilizing crisis intervention techniques, ensuring the safety of all parties involved. Employ motivational interviewing techniques to foster open communication during visits and support family reunification efforts. Address conflicts or behavioral issues during visits using conflict management skills while maintaining a calm, respectful demeanor. Ensure compliance with child protective services regulations, child welfare policies, and confidentiality standards at all times. Skills Proven experience in social work, child welfare, or related fields with a focus on working with children and families. Strong knowledge of crisis management, crisis intervention strategies, and behavioral health principles. Excellent conflict management skills combined with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively. Experience working with individuals with disabilities to ensure accessible transportation and visitation accommodations. Familiarity with family law procedures related to child custody and visitation rights. Skilled in motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive family interactions. Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining professionalism at all times. Qualifications At least 12 months experience working with children in some capacity (daycare, YMCA, school, church, nanny, etc) Be at least 21 years old Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Be able to pass a full background check Have current car insurance Carry a commercial auto insurance policy Have a High School Diploma or GED Ability to remain impartial and non-judgmental, maintain confidentiality and be respectful of all ethnicities and genders Strong and professional interpersonal and communication skills Ability to document visitations in detail and a timely manner/excellent written and verbal skills Willingness to take a random drug test at any time, in accordance with local law/regulations Capacity to work independently and make sound decisions 2 professional letters of reference Familiarity with family dynamics and child welfare practices is an advantage
