Job Description
As a function of the Waupaca County Human Services Department, the Social Worker will have assigned duties working with Child Protective Services completing Initial Assessments. The position will require compassion and a strong desire to keep children within their families by building upon parent's protective capacities. This position works under the direct supervision of the Child Protective Services Manager. Provide Initial Assessment services to referred children and families suspected of child abuse and/or neglect. Complete Initial Assessments by using the Trauma-Informed framework. Services provided are family focused towards assisting in community resource connections and preventing placement of children out of their natural home and community setting. Make assessments for safety and risk of children within their home setting. Provide support services to help alleviate situational family stress that contributes to child abuse and neglect situations. Coordinate and provide court services resulting from the initial assessment and treatment planning. Work closely with community agencies to coordinate the provision of services and resources such as AODA, mental health, and school. Work jointly with law enforcement, Juvenile Court, Corporation Counsel, and District Attorney's Office. Participate in after hours, on-call rotation. Attend staff meetings and trainings as directed.
PERIPHERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned by the Juvenile Court/Child Protection Manager.EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor is degree in social work or a related human service field (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or related field).EXPERIENCE
Experience working in complex, fast-paced social work environments is preferred but not required. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles is essential.Preferred:
Certified, or in the process of being certified as a Social Worker in the State of Wisconsin. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles. Knowledge of Chapter 48 Children's Code. Knowledge of eWISACWIS.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain agency confidentiality.
