We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join a public school district near San Diego, CA. This contract position will provide comprehensive school-based mental health services to middle school students , supporting their emotional, behavioral, social, and academic success. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with middle school-aged students and be comfortable collaborating with students, families, teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary school teams. Key Responsibilities Provide individual, group, and family counseling to middle school students. Conduct mental health assessments and develop appropriate treatment and support plans. Provide short-term, solution-focused and evidence-based interventions within the school setting. Support students experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, social challenges, trauma, and other mental health needs. Participate in crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessments as appropriate. Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, counselors, psychologists, special education staff, and other members of the student support team. Participate in IEP, 504, student support, and multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Provide consultation and mental health education to school staff and families. Coordinate with community-based providers and other resources when students require services beyond the school setting. Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with district and professional requirements. Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. Advocate for students and help remove barriers to their academic and social-emotional success. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program. Active California LCSW license in good standing.
Required:
Previous experience providing mental health services in a middle school setting. Experience working with adolescents and school-aged youth. Strong clinical assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and case-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary school environment. Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills. Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and student-centered care. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing comprehensive school-based mental health services. Experience collaborating with special education teams and supporting students with IEPs or 504 Plans. Experience with crisis response and suicide risk assessment. Familiarity with California school systems and community mental health resources.
