social work position works Thursday, Friday, Saturday 1p-11:30p ONSITE. This position is essential to providing 24/7 on site social work coverage. The social worker responds to trauma activations, medical alerts, codes and staff assists on inpatient units providing crisis intervention, family support, grief and bereavement support, collaborates with teams on child abuse and neglect cases, works to remove barriers to timely discharge including transportation, medication assistance and other social drivers of health. LICSW required in the District of Columbia required. Experience in healthcare required. The Social Worker II fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community agency representatives and visitors, provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment for identified patients and based on findings, facilitates interventions. Effectively uses interpersonal communication skills to resolve conflicts and promote a healing environment. Demonstrates leadership and advanced clinical practice by mentoring junior staff, educating social work students and staff, medical/nursing providers on a range of topics that impact patient and family coping, communication, family dynamics, de-escalation and staff coping.
