The Therapist is responsible for providing professional behavioral health and substance use treatment services to adults and juveniles experiencing substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma-related concerns, behavioral challenges, and other emotional or psychological difficulties. The Therapist will provide individualized, trauma-informed, age-appropriate services designed to support recovery, improve emotional and behavioral functioning, strengthen coping skills, and promote long-term stability. The Therapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team and maintain services in accordance with applicable professional standards, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of clients' substance use, mental health, behavioral, social, and emotional needs. Identify presenting problems, strengths, treatment needs, and recovery goals. Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives. Provide individual, family, and group therapy to adults and juveniles. Provide treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Utilize evidence-based and age-appropriate therapeutic interventions. Incorporate trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other appropriate therapeutic approaches. Provide crisis intervention and assist with safety planning when clinically indicated. Monitor client progress and modify treatment interventions as needed. Complete clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes. Maintain timely progress notes, treatment plan reviews, assessments, discharge summaries, and other required documentation. Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate appropriately with medical, behavioral health, residential, case management, and other staff. Coordinate care and make appropriate referrals to outside providers and community resources. Provide family education and involvement when clinically appropriate and permitted. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality. Follow applicable confidentiality requirements, including 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA, as applicable. Provide developmentally appropriate services when working with juveniles. Work collaboratively with parents, guardians, schools, courts, probation/parole, and other involved systems when authorized and appropriate. Assist clients in developing relapse-prevention, coping, communication, emotional-regulation, and life skills. Support clients in identifying triggers, developing recovery supports, and establishing healthy behaviors. Participate in discharge planning and facilitate continuity of care. Maintain accurate records and comply with agency, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. Attend required supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education. Perform other clinical duties as assigned. Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or another appropriately related behavioral health field. Current state-appropriate clinical license or credential [insert required credential, such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LAC/ADC, etc.]. Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders preferred. Experience with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders preferred. Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or families preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based behavioral health practices. Understanding of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, relapse prevention, and recovery principles. Ability to provide culturally responsive, ethical, and developmentally appropriate services. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Must meet all background check, credentialing, licensing, and facility requirements. Physical & Work Requirements The position may require the ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate effectively, use a computer for extended periods, and respond appropriately to clients experiencing emotional or behavioral distress. The Therapist must be able to maintain professional composure and follow established safety and crisis-response procedures in a residential or outpatient treatment environment.
