We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Gambling Treatment Counselor to join our team and provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with gambling addiction. As a counselor, you will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop treatment plans, and facilitate therapeutic interventions aimed at overcoming problematic gambling behaviors. Your role will involve conducting individual and group counseling sessions, educating clients about the nature of addiction, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to promoting recovery and well-being. Certification in gambling treatment or willing to become certified.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate group therapy sessions to foster peer support, skill-building, and relapse prevention strategies. Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' gambling habits, psychological well-being, and treatment needs. Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances, goals, and preferences. Provide evidence-based counseling and therapy to address underlying issues contributing to gambling addiction, such as depression, anxiety, or trauma. Educate clients and their families about the cycle of addiction, the impact of gambling on relationships and finances, and strategies for recovery. Monitor clients' progress throughout the treatment process, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide ongoing support and encouragement. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to coordinate integrated care and address co-occurring disorders. Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting assessment findings, treatment interventions, and progress notes in accordance with ethical and legal standards. Stay informed about developments in the field of gambling addiction treatment, attend training workshops or conferences, and participate in continuing education activities.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution. Licensure or certification as a professional counselor, clinical social worker (e.g., LPC, LAC, LCSW, LSW, LMFT, or LISAC) preferred. Experience working in addiction counseling or mental health counseling, with specific experience in gambling addiction treatment highly desirable. Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches for treating addiction, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner. Empathy, compassion, and a nonjudgmental attitude toward individuals struggling with addiction. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other computer applications for documentation and communication purposes. Commitment to upholding ethical standards of practice, including confidentiality, professional boundaries, and informed consent.
Working Conditions:
The position may require weekend hours to accommodate clients' schedules. Supervision available for licensure if needed
