Education:

Master's degree in social work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

At least one (1) year of direct service experience in a mental health setting (relevant student internship or practicum hours may be substituted). Experience in an inpatient therapy setting is preferred.

Licensure Requirements:

Mental Health Specialist II:

Active registration with the BBS as an Associate (AMFT, ACSW, or APCC).

Mental Health Specialist III:

Active California licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC. How you will make a difference Prepares a comprehensive written psychosocial evaluation and assessment on assigned clients, in addition to an intake note, daily progress notes, summary notes (as may be required) and a discharge summary. Responsible for assessing client's readiness for admission and coordination planning with treatment team, the client's case managers, and transferring facilities Responsible for assessing client's readiness for discharge and coordination planning with treatment team; working with case managers to effect appropriate referrals for placement, case management and aftercare services; coordinates benefits (Medi-Cal) with Business Office personnel; and maintains knowledge of community resources. Provides individual group therapy to clients on a weekly basis and as needed based on the needs of the clients Actively participates in treatment team meetings and is responsible for working with other disciplines to develop a coordinated treatment plan for assigned clients. Leads or co-leads therapeutic groups.
